   It is still working well with my two terriers (a chi mix and a yorkie). Because of the reviews re: small dogs/terriers, I was a little wary of trying it, but they have been doing well with it. Keep in mind they haven't stopped their barking entirely, but they do stop barking almost immediately. When someone comes to the door though, they don't care about it at all and continue barking. This may be due to their focus or to their level of anxiety (increasing due to guest) or it could be that they are too far from the machine; I'm not really sure.

They started barking I told them no barking and pushed the button briefly. They stopped immediately. It only took one more time of repeating that step. They quit barking.    I was looking for something to help me keep my dog from barking at certain times - when I leave the house, when I come home, when someone walks by (on the sidewalk). I tried a shock collar awhile ago and that wasn't the solution. My dog was terrified and it didn't stop his barking. So after looking at different options I came across this ultrasonic bark control. I've used ultrasonic devices to repel unwanted pests like rodents so I thought I would give this a try for the barking.

The first person that walked by Chica ran to the door and baked about six or seven times. The next time it was three times.    We have 2 dogs, a chow/golden retriever mix and a border collie/queensland healer mix and we love them both dearly, but.....they do tend to feed off each other when it comes to barking. My solution was to give the "SHUT UP" command, over and over and over again. My husband used to joke (okay, maybe he wasn't joking) that he didn't know what was more annoying, the dogs barking or me telling then to "shut up".

   The negative reviews are people with unrealistic expectations or stubborn dogs. This works as advertised. My border collie-beagle mix responded immediately to it and would not howl when we left and she had some separation anxiety (neighbors alerted us to her howling - two weeks later). After we placed it in the room she no longer howled when we were away - whether it was for a few mins or a few hours. We also would take it with us on trips to hotels or friends houses because of the neurotic nature of our pup (border collie, remember). Being in new locations threw her for a loop and she would bark/howl. Not with this device.

   I have tried sonic collars, remote controls, yelling at the dog. He's a good boy, but evertime he hears a noise when he is in his kennel, he barks. Someone knocks on the door and he goes crazy. Easy set-up, he barked one bark a few times at first, but now, he gets it. I have had it for about a week, so I can't comment on battery life. I never write reviews, but this product has restored peace to our happy home.

   This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. It was life changing. I have a 7 year old German Shepherd/lab mix. I bought this because her bsrrking was out of control after new neighbors with several dogs moved in. However she has always struggled with severe separation anxiety and we were having to crate her for her own safety (she ate throughwood door frames and drywall, broke a window, and pulled up floorin). Within minutes of putting batteries in this the barking stopped. Not only that, but she hasn't had to be crated when we leave for almost 6 months.
