I bought this item because I needed to replace both a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector that was on the ceiling side by side in my great room. I hated the look of 2 side by side. Plus both where approaching ten years old. I also like this one because it will voice tell you if its smoke or carbon monoxide it is detecting, not just beeping and me not knowing why. Very loud sounds and actually looks nice and rugged built. I plan to replace the others in my home with this same one as they age.

Haven't had them long enough to vouch for the battery life but I don't doubt they will last as long as advertised. Happy with my purchases.
