Until one day, I was cutting meat that my regular knife was having a hard time cutting...I decided to give it another try. It sliced through the meat without effort. Even the frozen meats were easy to cut now.
But that's not what impressed me about this product. When I was washing it, it gently touched my finger. I didn't even feel anything and I didn't see any cuts, so I just went about my day. After about 3 minutes while I was already making my instant coffee, I saw blood all over my mug and my coffee/sugar were drenched in my blood.
I didn't realize it at first, but I had a lightbulb moment..I am meat!! And the knife was just doing it's job, so I couldn't really blame it.
I never knew how powerful the knife was until the bloody finger experience. I would recommend this product without hesitation. Just be careful while using and handling it so you won't have to be bloody like me.
It is not a flashy knife if that what your after but it is well made and should last a lifetime.
I can’t in good conscience recommend this to inexperienced cooks, because this knife is very heavy and could be hard to hold correctly if you’re not used to many different types of knives. One of my roommates, who cooks sometimes, helped me prepare my trinity and he didn’t like the weight or height of the knife because he “just wasn’t used to it and it felt so far away from the board.”
The sheath is very nice. It fits perfectly in the leather sheath and you can fold the clasp away so you don’t accidentally cut it off (if you keep your knives as sharp as I do). The sheath came with that unpleasant leather smell, but it faded quickly.
All that said, I love this knife and it is now one of my primary knives for tough root vegetables and butcher work.
