After 2 test cuts I was able to accurately place a cut in a butcher block top. The cut was perfectly straight. If you have a circular saw you need this crosscut jig.

This is a great alternative to a table saw or circular saw fixtures. Accuracy depends on the calibration, which is very easy with the provided instructions; the first step is to mount the saw holder so the vernier can be used to adjust the cut measurement and is secure for the circular saw, and the second step is to use the vernier to set the cut width. The system allows accurate cutting to either edge of the saw blade or the center. Once this is done the battery operated circular saw I was using was able to hold a 1/32 inch accuracy as long as I was careful to keep the saw blade and guide edge absolutely parallel; it is possible to have the saw lead, creating uneven cuts so always watch the position of the saw and guide. This is a great device I would highly recommend, but also stress the importance of calibration and a couple of test cuts for technique first.

When I first got it I wasn't sure if the clips would hold the circular saw very well since there were only 2 points of contact and the screws were mounted in plastic. To my surprise it holds very well, and for quick cuts this is the s**t - much easier than setting up the table saw and trying to hold, align, and move a full sheet of plywood while cutting., or trying to eyeball it while cutting with the circular saw. Best money I've spent in a while in this area.

I had some one help me while i was cutting the sheets down to ensure the edge stayed flush with the tool and it made a great cut!
