This little guy has really improved my travel experience. I've used it primarily as a rice-cooker. In this role it works perfectly. Just put in rice and water. When it's cooked the power cuts off automatically. Perfectly cooked rice every time. Works well with both jasmine and sushi rice. I've also used it to boil dumplings and steam frozen dim sum.
As another reviewer noted, the one shortcoming of this device is the lack of a lower temperature setting. Even when set to slow, water boils vigorously. Cooking a soup requires keeping an eye on it. The auto-shut-off would only engage when all the water is gone. Once I was making rice porridge and it got turned into cooked rice when I forgot to check the water level.
