I have used this to start wood and charcoal fires. It is as advertised, after under a minute of using the heat setting, you have sparks and flames. After another 20 ish seconds and backing off a little, you have a decent little fire. Another minute or two of the other setting (high fan, no heat) and you have a blaze to be proud of. The attached video is 3 minutes after a cold start.
