Beginners can get away with using it as long as you are making personal item/gifts for yourself or your family. The needles catch on certain types of yarn and cause the crank to stall. Consider purchasing ONLY if you are going to learn about tube knitting/plane knitting and NOT if you want to make item for sale.

The suction cups don't really work too well and it kept sliding all over the place, but we'll figure something out for that I'm sure. Overall, I'd recommend.
