The holder is sturdy with stainless steel and the durable hard plastic both top and bottom of the cylinder. I do like the waving pattern of the top where knife is inserted, the waving pattern helps to grip/hold onto the knife so it doesnt tiles or shift while inside the holder. In addition, the bottom base is easy to pull out and I can just wash it clean every once every 3 weeks to get it air out. The slick designs with the universal capability of inserting any shape and length of knife is a great addition to my kitchen countertop.
