Those kind are fine, but I wanted to be able to set the exact temperature. This heater is perfect for that. It heats quickly and evenly, and it's very quiet and efficient. I have a standard dial controller small heater in my home office, and I'm thinking about getting another of these. The oscillation is also a great feature for evenly heating rooms. Would definitely recommend.
