I was surprised by the quality. It made me realize that my old 12" combination square is out of square! The slide mechanism is tight, which I like. It gives me confidence that once set, it will not drift. The graduations are very well marked and usually easy to read. I wish the ruler was a just a bit less reflective, under some lighting it can be harder to read the scale, but I will take this any day over the significant price increase to get a S*tt product. Great value.

I love the size of the square since I use it to check the angle of my table saw blade for 90 degrees. I was using the 12 inch square, but this square is much easier to use. I also find it extremely useful for checking inside angles on my picture frames. With a small frame the 12 inch square will not fit inside the frame. It is one handy, well made tool and it's a USA product.

I needed a tool to duplicate measurements. I have a longer square but my workspace is limited and this fits the bill for what I'm going.

I always have at least 2 combination squares in my traveling tool kit. A 12 inch and a 6 inch. This model popped up when I made a recent purchase and on impulse I bought it. It has since become my favorite square. It is very robustly made and the markings and machining is extremely crisp and clean. I have 3 others of this size from different manufacturers all in the same price range and the Irwin is head and shoulders above them all. The metal body is thicker and the parts operate very smoothly and engage well. The level is actually quite readable. I've never used the level on my other 6 inch squares because they looked so bad and didn't seem "real". It's not really a feature that I use but the quality of it is indicative of the build quality of the entire tool.

Well made. Checks square in all configurations with a verified machinist square. Stays as close to square as makes any difference for a tool like this even with the slide lock screw not tight. Laser etched markings are crisp, easy to read and should last forever. You cannot go wrong.

Used correctly it's just as accurate as any other combination square. You just have to use it carefully. Not a precision machine shop instrument but certainly good enough for carpentry. I bought it because it is small..pocket sized to fit in my already overloaded toolbag. Really all I need.

I have had craftsman and empire ( same thing ) and they don't lock real well and the cap on the leveling plug falls out. The lock on this is really nice no slipping with finger tight torque, and the vial is topped with a brass plug. I really like when a tool does what it is supposed to do. If I use the 12" craftsman to align cabinet doors, the blade will slide on me. You need to use pliers to get it tight enough. I am a remodeling contractor and I use the 6" and 12" daily and recommend the Irwin combination squares.

Just a handy little combo square. Love the size, lends itself to be quite versatile. I use it to confirm my saws being squared up, use it to mark off drywall when making California patches, just really useful. I drop it in my awp nail pouch and go.

Use it all the time. Very convenient size (I'd like even smaller) and accurate.
