I purchased this solder iron to use on my HO model railroading hobby. I use it primarily to solder rail joiners to flextrack and this worked perfectly. It doens't add too much heat to melt the plastic rail ties but quickly heats the rail and joiner to flow solder. The lights are handy as they illuminate the area you are soldering. This seemed to be more of gimmick when I read about that feature, but when using it, they actually helped me see the joints better and keep the iron tip on the location required to do the proper solder joints.

The included solder was more than enough to get the wires soldered to the harness of my car stereo. If soldering is your day job, you would probably stay away but the Weller is good to keep around for quick jobs.

Although it does have built-in LEDs, I didn't find these to be too bright or effective in illuminating the area under the tip.
