At first it didn't seem to work, but then I read the directions and I think that I had it plugged into something that was too low in amps. I took it to work and plugged it in to our supplied UPS power connection there and voila - it started charging my phones just fine. It works great as a mouse pad, the base is tacky so it doesn't slip around and the top has a nice soft and really large mousing surface.
