   Got it to improve sleep, mood, motivation. It worked wonderfully (though it's impossible to isolate all of the coterminus factors — in other words, this specific product is part of a portfolio of biomanagement tools I used this Winter, not the only one). I could FEEL a distinct difference on the days I used the HappyLight: far better sleep, mood, and motivation. I used it only late January - late February while staying in a place with small windows and low light. I might start using the HappyLight again even now because it was a key part of a wonderful morning ritual. Very grateful for this product!

   It has helped tremendously. It has been over a week since I've cried for no reason and I don't have the overwhelming urge to cry either. I join in conversations with my coworkers, I sit in the living room with my family instead of hiding away in my room, it's easier to get out of bed each morning. People don't constantly ask me "What's wrong?"Anyway, I know a pill would have helped me faster and I would probably feel even better that I do, but, this light is amazing and I much prefer it over some medication that has a billion side effects.

   I'm back at home in Hawaii now so the light is unnecessary since the sun actually shines here and I can get outside several times per day. Two things that I did not like: 1. I didn't like where the adapter plugged into the rear of the light - I had to drill a hole in the tablet holder on my elliptical to accommodate the protruding receptacle and 2. It could really use two kickstands as there are certain angles where the single kickstand will not keep it from falling over.

   I had to live and work in New Hampshire for a year where it seemed the sun barely shined. I used it at home in the kitchen first thing in the morning, on my elliptical trainer, on the floor next to me while doing yoga and Pilates, and then I would take it to work and use it most of the day on my desk next to my monitors. there were no issues for over a year of use - and I was rough with this light. Yes, it is bright, but so is the sun, which it is designed to duplicate. It really helped my mood and my ability to stay alert and awake throughout the day.

   I have used these sort of sunlights to deal with Seasonal Affective Depression (SAD) in the past, although none were as bright as this, or as inexpensive. Most people battling SAD are doing so because are in northern latitudes in winter when sunlight is scarce and who wants to be outside at subfreezing temperatures? I have the opposite problem. It is sunny and usually above 90 degrees in summer in Idaho. It is just too hot to get enough sunlight. Cabin fever is settling in, so a bit of illumination is just what I need.

   I'm on the more severe level of depression and was looking for anything to help boost serotonin levels. I bought this after speaking with my psychiatrist about specifications. I have tried other lights before and they had no effect. I was pleasantly surprised by this light. I definitely notice my mood feeling boosted and feeling more awake after using the light. I notice results within about 10 minutes but leave it on for 30 as my doctor suggested. I normally set it off to the side while working or watching TV and this is enough for me, though, I've seen it recommended to look directly at it. I thought I would end up returning this but I've been using it for several months.

It was time to supplement and this was the ticket. I sit in front of it about an hour a day and absorb the artificial sunshiney-ness into my less than perky bones. It has helped.    I've been using bright light therapy for more than 20 years and decided to get a smaller portable light to move around the house with me on dark winter mornings and this one is great. I tried the Circadian Optics Light Therapy Lamp, which was tiny but overwhelmingly bright, and after a week I returned it for the Happy Light Lucent. For me, this one is the right balance of brightness and compactness. I can see a huge difference in my energy level when I don't spend enough time by my Happy Light in the mornings. This is a great investment that will last a few years for the price of a month's worth of coffee!
