   This was very useful for our knives because everything fits, even our cooking scissors! It's easy to clean as well. I can put it anywhere in our kitchen counter with no worries of knives falling out. All my knives(long &short) fit perfectly well like my paring knives & even other knives. Each slot is big enough to hold one knife in one slot or several small knives together in one slot, depending on how you arrange it. I usually group my small knives together & the bigger knives stay in one slot each. Having a space for the cooking scissors was a huge help. No more finding a place to put my cooking scissors, since I usually use it the same time when I use the knives, when I cook & need to cut meat in small pieces or just to cut some veggies or herbs.

   The last knife block I had was sort of like a brush inside and I loved it . Since the brush worked so well, I was hoping this would be like this but instead it is long slots to put the knives in. It certainly works fine. Only my bread knife was too long. Another plus is the outside is stainless steel. I can't imagine needing to do so, but it says it is dishwasher safe. It is made in China. Overall, I think it is practical, compact, and attractive. I hope it lasts for many years.

   I have a few too many kitchen knives. My favorites have their knife blocks, but the excess ones have been stored either in the knife slots of my drying rack or haphazardly in a drawer bin. I got a few nicer knives and finally needed more storage, so I ordered this knife block.Suffice to say, this delivers with looks and space. Knives slide in with ease to the slanted slots, and their length often allows for two knives to go in a single entry. I thought the lack of canting would be an issue with pulling the knives out underneath cabinets, but the slot length means you can tilt the knife as you pull it out. It's been a fantastic purchase thus far.

   This new knife block design is clever, and works very well. At first I was worried that if the slots didn't go all the way down (they don't, see my pictures), that the knives would just fall sideways... but I found that (at least for my knives) they balanced just fine on the slot tops. The slots are actually just V shaped pieces of (plastic?) that the knives displace/deform as they slide in. There are a couple different sized gaps for different thicknesses of blades... though I suppose you could force thicker blades into the narrower slots. I can't imagine this block will have an infinite lifespan either, but it's just so much easier to use than the other universal block.I was also worried that because the block stood straight up instead of at an angle, I'd have a hard time drawing a blade from it under my cabinets. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a holder for their miscellaneous blades.
