   Exactly as I expected! I didn't have to put it out in the sun before using it. It floats around and doesn't spout water out of the bowl. I'm thrilled! I read the other reviews to determine which nozzle to use so that the water went spray out of the bowl. If anything changes I will edit this review because this wasn't cheap! Sorry for my stupid finger in the photo.

   I got this for my large koi pond. I didn't want anything that required a cord or plumbing, so solar power is ideal! The pump turns on automatically when a metal pin on the underside comes into contact with water. The fountain effect is pleasant and not strong enough to shoot water out of the pond, but enough to move some water and aerate. Worth looking at if you want a small water feature for your koi pond.

   The Solar fountain works very well. The price is fair. I first tested in my pool to see if it would float and turn on without any charging by the sun. It did float nicely and right away the fountain started flowing. The flow is very strong and steady once the pump fills with water and starts flowing. It worked very well for about 8 hours until it got dark. The solar stops working when it gets dark. This would be the only downfall to the product. I would recommend this product for purchase, it can be used many different ways as a small Solar Fountain.

   There are a LOT of bird bath fountains on the market right now. Two things to look for are how many watts (the power) and built in battery (keeps it going). Many of the fountains only have 1.5W and some don't have a battery. That means that the fountain will be wimpy and if a cloud passes in front of the sun, it will die. This fountain also has a variety of heads. The more ports, the lower the shower. The single port sprays straight up quite high. That may not be suitable for most bird baths, as the spray will be blown away from the bird bath by the slightest breeze. A multi-port head is most suitable for most. This fountain can be free floating or anchored. The suction cups will only help if you have a glass like surface to attach it to and it's exactly so far beneath the surface. I've ordered a bird bath to put this fountain in. I like this fountain and gladly give it five stars.

   I was concerned about whether it would work in my location, which only has direct sun a few hours a day and primarily has mottled shade under a tree. It installed easily, required no cord to a separate solar panel. my concerns were: 1. Would it run in my shaded location? Yes, even in partially cloudy conditions. Competitors had no battery or batteries that where only 300-500 Ma. These batteries enable it to operate most of the time, even for a while after sunset. 2. Would it spray too much water out of the birdbath? No, once i picked the fountain head with several sprays and a max height of 10-12". I did have to place four rocks around it to keep it centered while leaving room for it to sink down as the water level lowered due to evaporation or high winds. Now I fill the birdbath once a day. See photo. 3. could the unit be damage or have a reduced life if it did run out of water? No, it shuts itself down quickly if it does not have enough water depth. update: I just checked it , still working at about half height, even though it is overcast and drizzling.

   I love this solar fountain. I ordered a bird bath fountain along with this solar pump however the solar fountain pump arrived sooner. I couldn't wait to try it. The instructions are great and I only had to put the different tops that change the spray pattern. On the picture you will find my favorite sprayer. Wow I am in love.    This lovely little solar pump helped me convert a plant stand and salad bowl into a charming deck fountain. It arrived on time and well packaged. Instructions were included, but it's pretty intuitive. Comes with several spout options to make different spray combinations. It charged in less than 2 hours, runs continuously as long as it's in the sun, and runs another couple hours after sunset. Very pleased with the quality and will order more.
