I've been using this microphone for recording (using a Zoom H4N) both instruments and voice, and I have to say, it is a very clear microphone with good audio quality. Like most dynamic mics, you have to be fairly close to the microphone, but unlike other dynamic mics, you don't have to essentially stuff the microphone in your mouth.

I love this mic! I have a Retro Desktop Microphone. Being in a retro style band, the aesthetic is important to us. We recently added another guitarist who is able to do back vocals. So of course we want to keep the mics on point. However the price point of the Heil is just not something we can afford to outfit everyone in the band with and I can't expect a new member to purchase

I bought these to give a look to our cajun band. The vocalist uses the all metal Pyle retro. These are for the other members but surprisingly the sound is just as good. Well worth what it cost. I actually did a side by side comparison with the all metal and there was only a slight difference. I believe that because they incorporated circuitry for anti pop which is a problem with the all metal

The vocals came out amazingly clean and cut through the mix perfectly. The on/off switch was great for waiting out a solo or bridge without worrying about sneezing or something lol - it directly attachs to the mic stand - so not sure if I would use this for gigging as that plastic thread would wear out - but for a studio where you leave it on the stand like me - its perfect - no reason to pay more - and it looks friggin radtro (retro+rad) !

I also have the real old shure 55 mic like elvis used and it's so heavy it makes the boom on the stand drop unless you overtighten it but then the mic stand is ruined. Plus it makes the mic stand want to tip over. The light plastic is way more practical especially on stage

If you know how to use a mic like this then it's great, if you dont then you will be wondering why others are leaving good reviews. First thing, you got to sing into the very front. If you dont then you dont get the sound response. That's normal for this style of mic. Second thing, the plastic is a good thing not a bad thing.

This microphone has no problems with unwanted sounds like buzz or radio frequency interference; I strongly recommend using a low-impedance XLR cable to avoid such problems. The cable that comes with this microphone is just a bonus. No microphone in the world can be free of unwanted interference if it's connected to a high-impedance cable.

I was looking for a retro microphone prop for videos and found more than I was looking for. I bought the black classic retro microphone, and it's actually a fully functional microphone. While it's suited for performances, I still use it as a prop. The stand is separate, which is also sold by Pyle, and together, they are the perfect prop/microphone combination. The cable is pretty long--15 feet--and the assembly is easy. If you want to buy the same set online in general, it'll cost way more and look cheaper. Trust me, I looked, and this was the set I didn't know I needed.
