They aren’t hard as a rock, but there definitely isn’t much give. The beige color choice was a mistake as it is much more 70s burnt orange than the photos showed but I guess we didn’t order them for their aesthetics.

Im just shy of 6 ft tall with an athletic build, and i needed one like the one i bought my wife to lean against our headboard while we watch tv. This is NOT a kids sized pillow, regardless what other reviewers say. Im leaning on it as i type this. Its very firm, VERY, firm. If you want a pillow that has barely any give, this ones for you. Saw many higher priced ones, and looked at the reviews on this one. Mostly good, but many complained, its too firm. I received mine and saw the situation. YES. It's firm. Its made to be a makeshift chair for the floor or your bed. It's made to keep you upright like a chair. If you scoot your bottom down a bit, it's tall enough to rest your head. If you want something squishy/soft, stack pillows up behind you. You buy this, to have a lounge chair in your bed or on the floor. I remembered, and looked for this because I was tired of all the pillows not working correctly when I wanted to sit up in bed.
