It took a few hours for it to fully expand after unpacking it, but I didn't notice any strong or unpleasant smell to it. I love using this when I want to sit up in bed and read, it's very supportive and keeps my back and neck from getting stiff.

The material inside is very odd, as the pillow then holds the pictured shape perfectly. It's very firm and sturdy.
