The brush slips out a little because of this but you can hold the brush and brush your fur baby just the same. It brushes real nice, has a nice hold to it. I love it and my boys love it. They are a Chiweenie and a Chihuahua. Not sure how it would work on a long hair, fluffy pet. Mine are slick haired.
