   Love to stare at this. When I find myself completely engrossed in something and headed down a rabbit hole, I flip this gorgeous piece over and break away into my own headspace for one minute.    Lots of fun to watch the metal fall and build in the bottom. Sure doe collect dust on the outside though, so glad I keep it close enough to regularly dust off. The wood block is a natural block of wood with a magnet in the center. I can't see why it could not be painted and or stained to look a bit more polished for a more high-end look

   I received this a gift, and have since given out some to friends and family. Very cool item. I like hourglasses anyway, but never considered owning one before this.    I ordered this as just a little trinket for my desk. I didn't expect it to be as awesome as it is. If you are reading this it likely means that you are looking into purchasing this item and I for one think that this hourglass will be exactly what you are looking for. It isn't a typical boring hourglass that runs down and then it's done. With the magnetism, when it hits the bottom it sticks up in a really cool way. I highly recommend this hourglass to everyone.

   I understand how people keep breaking this, and they should seriously consider adding a warning if there isn't one. The magnet for this product is VERY strong, if you attempt to place the hour glass on its pedestal where the magnet resides, the magnet will grab it from you and slam the glass against the base; to avoid this slide the glass onto the pedestal from the side, rather than trying to place it from above. If you do this your hour glass will last longer than, well right out of the box. I was lucky that it didn't break when I first made the mistake myself; I have used it without issue since.
