Every time he got in the car he had to have this tray buckled in so he can use the flat top of snacks, drawing, reading, homework, and more The buckle feature is great. It kept the tray from sliding off my son's lap. It would work very nice on the airplane also. I would've preferred he use this on the plane however, our son was fascinated with the built in tray. It's so useful to keep the kids entertained. I would highly recommend this product.
