I may now have to get a battery drill to save the trailing cables (please Santa)!!
My brother is made up with these drill bits
My use was geared towards turning scrap wood into kindling as opposed to slitting logs. I had a number of planks of woods which I couldn’t kindle with an axe due to knots on the wood near the ends. This device made short and easy work turning it all into kindling.
It takes some getting used to as you gauge it’s capability (and learn to either have a hold of the wood or your foot on it to avoid creating a propeller!)
I use it with a cordless drill which will obviously limit it further than a more powerful corded one. You can usually tell pretty quickly if the device is going to have the desired effect and split the wood or whether it’s going to just drill into the wood and become stuck. Drilling 1-2cm from the side of the wood worked 95% of the time. Slightly annoying is that when you put the drill in reserve it’s simple loosens the head from the adapter rather than unscrewing out the wood so if you do over estimate and it gets stuck the in wood you’ll need to find a way of getting it back.
If you are realistic in what you expect from this item then it will work well for you. If you are hoping it’ll will conquer big logs or solid wood which would normally take several swings of an axe then you’ll most likely be disappointed.
