   I keep this outside on my small upstairs patio. At first it looked like my puppy was just going to try to tear it up but luckily he has learned to pee and poop there for the most part. I really wanted this because 1) it looks nicer than a pee pad 2) I know dogs are particular about texture so if your potty training a dog from your small apartment but eventually want him to go poop or pee outside in the future this would be good for you ! 3) you don't have to clean it right away. This item will hold a good amount, just beware of the clean up. I don't have a hose so I would have to clean this in my sink because eventually you'll need to rinse it off once in a while. I also found that it helps to put pee pads in the bottom to help with easy clean up. This size is for my three month puppy and works pretty well. If you don't have a small dog breed or puppy, I'd suggest getting the large.

   I bought this in hopes that it will come in handy to house train out 12 week old Golden Retriever puppy. I was actually extremely surprised with it. We have had her about 1 week and have been working on crate/house training everyday, she has been doing very well with going potty outside. She still has accidents but that is normal for a puppy. Today was the first day we actually left her in the house alone for several hours. I did not want to leave her locked in her crate so we clipped a metal dog playpen around her crate to give her a larger area to play and walk around. I put a pad inside the tray and I had to make sure to hide any sightings of the pad because she immediately went and tried to rip it out. I put the grass tray to one side and her water o the other side of the play pen. I also sprayed the grass mat with the attractant to help encourage her to use it to potty on. After we set it up gave her a few treats we left and hoped for the best. When we came back, to our surprise she had only went potty on the grass mat. I took the tray outside threw away the dog pad and sprayed it with an enzyme cleaner and cleaned with the hose. It was a little much to clean, I could see it being very time consuming if it were to be used everyday/ all day.

   My poor girl suffered in bad weather going to the bathroom during the winter so I purchased this with high hopes but few true expectations. Not my first go with 'puppy pads'. However, I am very pleased! I clean it daily so I expected it to break or deteriorate quickly, forcing me to buy replacement grass or plastic, even a new unit! This is very sturdy! I've stepped on it as has my husband and I expected it to have cracked, yet it did not!

   I love this potty training system & highly recommend it for very small dogs. I have a tiny female teacup poodle. I got her at 1lb she is now 6months old and only 2.6lbs. She took to this super easy. I have it set up in a even-flo playpen for children. It’s a great set up for her. I do use a potty pad to help absorb the pee, I only change it every few days. I clean her waste off of it daily. I purchased the extra grass pads so when I clean it I will always have a dry one to use.

   We were fortunate that our breeder potty trained all of the pups on this grass (or I wouldn’t know about it). At a very young age all of the pups used the grass. I bought 3 and placed one in his pen and 2 in living area. Our pup is only 8 weeks old and always goes to his grass to poop/potty. Makes it so much easier, so he is free to run around the house. If your pup has never seen the grass, rub some of the pups pee on the mat so he smells where to go. When ours is a little older, we’ll teach him to use his doggie door and place the grass outside. So easy to wash. It has 3 layers (grass, mat with holes and tray.) I take them outside every couple days and squirt dish soap on them, scrub grass with cloth and spray with the hose and set in the sun to dry, all while he’s asleep. We’re in Arizona and have a pool, so we fenced our patio off. I would highly recommend this product.

   In my back yard we have no grass so the puppy grass was a perfect idea. While yes it may sound gross that it seeps into a tray as long as you clean it daily or 1-2 times a day it’s not gross. Just careful picking it up and wear gloves to lift and rinse it. The only thing for me was that the grass falls off easy like little debris but it’s expected from a replaceable Mat so I wasn’t surprised. Right when I set the mat down my dog laid in it thinking it was a bed but quickly understood and squatted and peed! I still put some puppy Matt’s around so she understood that was her potty spot but for the most part she gets the concept which isn’t bad for a 2 month old puppy.

   I work 12 hour shifts so I wanted something that my dog could use that wouldn’t be the carpet in case she has an accident. She took to it right away and uses it occasionally. She usually can hold her bladder okay. My only complaint is I live in an apartment so it’s somewhat difficult to clean without access to a hose and the turf can fall off in small pieces at times. Otherwise, it would be awesome and easy to clean outside with a hose or something like that. It absorbs well and doesn’t smell.

   I'd say for the price I'd recommend this one off of amazon since you are buying something for your dog to literally shit on. Not to mention it's a decent size larger and half the price! Just thought if any of you tried to buy in-store first you'd like to know the comparisons. This has been a lifesaver through the potty training process.
