I also rather enjoy the sides that zip up and protect the door! My dogs kept trying to climb on it though, to get to the center console. There is a see through, mesh section right in between the seats, I might just cut it out, because my dog is used to being able to put his paws up there. Overall, it provides good protection and the the side panels zip up and down to let dogs in and out.
