Button has sound. It can also be muted. Manual switch-on/off. You can add or subtract numbers and clear them. Press the Plus key to add a number, press the minus minus to reduce a number, and press the plus or minus button for 5 seconds to turn on or off the sound. Press the top blue button for 5 seconds to clear. Press the blue button for 5 seconds to shut down.

The ability to add and subtract guests as they exited is a lot easier than trying to keep a tally on paper. Cut the lanyard off, and they hide easily in the palm of your hand. Silence the beep, and no one knows you even have them. Excellent product, works great, we have been using them for about a month now and no glitches at all.
