It does a great job lighting up the area under our offset umbrella! There doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the 2nd and 3rd setting regarding brightness, but that could just be me. It doesn't matter however because we keep it on the brightest setting whenever we're out there.
The other night I even attached it to our bench swing, and that worked too! You can go to the store and pay a heck of a lot more than this for a light that does just as good of a job as this one at a fraction of the cost. I'm happy with it!

It's adjustable to fit any pole, very clever in design and is highly functional. This will not slide down or pop off during use. The 3 light settings are akin to a dimmer switch and the 4 AA battery power ensures hours of very attractive lighting will shining down on your patio table. As far a durable is concerned, don't be~concerned that is~ as the plastic composite is the virtually unbreakable kind they use in shelving etc. I find using rechargeable batteries is a great karma booster to boot.
