So up front - buy the Baofeng cloning cable that is for this radio. Clones won't work. If you are cloning with Chirp, don't use the UV-5x3 to clone it. Use the BF-F8H otherwise you won't have all three power settings.Having said that, I have had 3 Baofeng UV-5R or UV5X3s; one died when I left it outside in the rain, but other than that, the others are always going strong. I saw this and said "I could really use an 8 watt radio, and bought it on a whim. It seems to have a better receiver and the 8W power means I can go full quieting into my club's repeater. I like the controls slightly better than the UV-5R and the colour is nice. It's also more compact.
