I do recommend that once you take it out of the box to put it together right away. I was going to let it air out for a bit but decided not to and glad I did. The slip cover has pockets that the cushions fit into and it's a tight fit geting the cushions in there. Once the cushions regain their density it would be much harder. Once together the cushions do not slip around and it is very sturdy.
