Because I'm a renter I couldn't use the wall hooks that came with the shelf but I just used command hooks with velcro command strips (the velcro is stronger). I wanted to put my plants on my shelf but to make sure that they didn't fall I put a ton of my books stacked on it, left it for a few hours and it didn't budge! I can comfortably say that my plants are safe and they look great on the shelf after using it for several months now. I have the 3 tier shelf and it's definitely worth the money.
