I also have a pair of the kahtoola micro spikes which provide a little more grip due to the longer spikes, but they aren't very good when the conditions are rocky with intermittent ice. I usually have to take them off in the dry sections. I can leave the icetrax on for all conditions without any problems. No broken spikes, at least not yet after 3 hikes.
