   Bought this based on the reviews and I'm very happy with it! Took the advice of turning the grate upside down and putting the charcoal on top with the incense right on the charcoal and it burns nicely. Yes, it's small but great for my small meditation space. I'll try it the correct way and use a sand base and try burning inside the cavity just to see the difference- I gather it might burn slower being inside.

   This thing was a lot smaller than I was expecting, but it is cute and does what I wanted it to do. I love the design on the side and how it perfectly holds a piece of charcoal. It most definitely gets hot quickly and will burn you if not careful, the wooden coaster is not much bigger than the burner so watch your finger placement when trying to move whilst it has burning coal in it.

   From reviews I knew this would be a small burner, but it works perfectly for me with charcoal discs and pieces of brick incense. I dont need anything bigger. As many have noted, it gets very hot, so I put a bit of shell sand in the bottom (though its not necessary). I found the burned pieces can stick to the bottom, so the sand helps the sticking and the heat. I set it on a brass candle holder, to be on the safe side, along with the tiny wood platform that comes with it. Although it can be used multiple ways, I put the charcoal on top of the screen with the incense directly on top of it (with screen concave side down like a dish), so as it burns, it all falls down into the holder.

   I bought this to burn some frankincense and myrrh. The reviews were pretty good and this looked like the nicest one on offer. I was very pleased when I received it a few days later. It's actually bigger than I thought it would be, and is very well made! Sturdy and nicely designed, it's made of wood, metal inside and nicely decorated. The only complaint I have is that the top sticks a little bit to the base, and I'm guessing that's because of the resin created by burning frankincense and myrrh. I'm very happy with it though and recommend it.
