   This works well, Pumps faster than I expected. If you are using a battery drill though, make sure you have a full charge on it. It takes a good deal of power to use. Then again, since the pump mounts right onto the drill and water can be a shock hazard, probably a battery operated drill is the way to go.

   In an application where the pump inlet does not have water directly applied to it before startup, such as a vertical lift and/or horizontal run between the pump and the water source, the length of the inlet hose should not be more than a few feet so the water doesn't have to travel very far to reach the pump, and can get there in no more than several seconds. This type of pump relies on the fluid being moved as a lubricant for the pump itself. Since it consists of rubber vanes rotating inside a plastic housing, you can understand why others (who obviously ran it dry too long) mentioned that it didn't work and smoke came out of it!

   After reading other reviews I was not expecting much out of this pump. Well it is better than expected. I needed something to pump chlorinated water into my RV out of a bucket. This pump worked fine. I did not mount it but held the pump with one hand and my drill with the other hand. It worked well.

   The main battery on my boat died and the hold was filling up with water from rain. Without a main battery, there is no bilge pump. I bought this pump to evacuate the water so that I could pull the batteries out and test/charge them. This pump was rockstar in emptying the hold, but the water was coming in from the drain holes as fast as I could pump it out. Once I plugged the holes, it was short work to get it pumped dry. I did have a clog, which prompted me to pull the output hose off. Keep an eye on the output volume - you might have a plugged up hose. I did burn through both 20V batteries on my cordless drill before switching to a plug-in drill which was much faster and I could lock the trigger on instead of having to keep it pressed with my hand. This is a must have for a boat.

   This little beast seems so efficient. We have used it 4 times now, each time running the corded drill a bit faster. It sounds great when running, and the rate of water flow is scary good. We ran a small-ish bilge pump to drain the tarp over a boat, took me 3 hours.
