   Our 3 1/2 year old puppy had back surgery and was completely immobile for a week. Our house is on stilts and we needed some way to get him up and down (he's 48 lbs!).    I purchased this because my 14 year old black lab was having a really hard time - if not impossible time - going down the stairs from the bedroom where she sleeps with my to the living room. I purchased this harness and it has been an absolute life saver. I only need to use the upper portion of it. I just secure it around her and am able to help guide her down the stairs. When her back legs give out and she does start to slip/lose her footing it is easy for me to control her and make her feel secure so she can finish. When she gets down to the bottom of the stairs I make sure to praise her for her good job and she is always so happy! At first she would shake and was scared when I put the harness on her but as soon as she realized it helped her she got over the fear and now is excited to see it. Great purchase!

   THANK YOU FOR THIS HARNESS!!! My 80 lb Labrador has degenerative myelopathy and yesterday when he tried to stand up his front legs gave way - his back were already compromised. I had purchased the harness but hadn't used it yet so after figuring out the straps (not easy but with patience can be done) I put it on him while he was lying down. Then slowly lifted him to a standing position and he was able to walk. He understands exactly what it is doing and is patient while I adjust straps etc. He looks to me when he is struggling to stand as if he now knows that I can help him. It is amazing. I should say, although I am relatively strong, I am a 69 year old woman so this is a huge help for me. I keep the front on all the time, and the back stays on all day although I sometime unhook one leg when he's lying down to be sure he isn't restricted. At night, I took only the back off but it was easy enough to get it back on in the AM. It may only be buying us a few more days or weeks, I don't know, but it is well worth it.

   We are very happy with both front and rear harness. Our arthritic, senior german shepherd, was gaining weight from not being able to walk very far. With the rear harness, she is able to get that little bit of help to steady her to walk. We have had it over a 1 week, and her legs are getting stronger from her walks!! Her attitude has improved, and she even wants to play with her ball!! The only complaint so far, is wish that the stomach strap had more padding. We take it off when in the house as she is able to get up and down on her own. In the future, when I do need to leave on for short periods, I would have to to some adjusting. We have used both the front and rear together and they work beautifully. She just doesn't need both at the same time, that often. We also like the quick release buckles. Thanks for giving us our joy of walking together again!!!!!!!!!

   My small dog of 10 lbs is at the smallest range that this is made for. My dog developed hind quarter weakness in her elder years and this helped with taking her outside and lifting her when she needs help. I would like to see a smaller lighter-weight version for tiny dogs because she does not like wearing all this gear but dogs will get used to dealing with such things. It puts the support where you need it when picking up your pet as my dog didn't mind a bit when doing so. I wouldn't carry them around for long with it because it may interfere with breathing since the dogs weight is no longer on its legs when using it to pick up your pet.

   The quality of the product is very good. However, we have not been able to use it as originally intended, due to our dog's unwillingness to wear it. The front harness fits well and has sufficient adjustment for comfort. Our dog simply doesn't like his rear touched in any way, shape, or form, and never has. We put the rear harness on and his butt immediately goes to the floor. Pick him up by the rare harness and he refuses to walk. Surprisingly, he does allow us to use one rear loop around his bad leg and support him while he walks in the other three. We accomplished this by hooking the strap to the opposite side of the harness.
