Most people with moderate to severe hearing problems will need to bump the volume up (slowly) by two or three notches at least to achieve optimal hearing. One final point: you can eavesdrop on conversations dozens of yards away if your volume is set nearer the top level. I'm not making any suggestions, just stating a fact.

I feel so sorry for the millions of elderly people being ripped off by hearing centers, when these will work for probably 95% of the hearing impaired. I know a woman who just paid $10K for a pair of hearing aids and yet cannot hear as well as I can. Many of my friends are now purchasing these. One warning: please begin on the lowest volume settings, because these amplifiers are especially powerful.
