   With this deluxe box we got a lot more variety of crystals over the smaller box. My kid loved it. Use a cold chisel or an all metal flat screwdriver to split them. Otherwise you might just smash the rock into pieces and ruin it. Put a towel over and under to keep chips from flying about.

   What a terrific gift for a great price! I bought two of these kits for two separate families with small children, one a three-year-old and the other a 4 year old. Both the kids and the parents really enjoyed cracking open the geodes to see what was inside. Many of the geodes were smaller but these are supposedly all natural and that's just the way it goes. Also, for the price, they were terrific! Most of them had similar colors inside but we did get one that had a beautiful little amethyst colored gem growing. Either way, there was lots of excitement while we all sat together to break them open.
   
   Be careful when splitting them open to have all children and adults either wear protective eyewear or stand back. Pieces can fly and are an expected Hazard with something like this. We didn't have too much issue but I could see the potential trouble if too many were around and too close. Also, the enclosed eye protection was great but there's only one set - extras are cheap, if needed!
   
   Probably best cracked with a small chisel or flat head screwdriver and light hammer. We hit the first few with just a hammer and they split well but into many pieces. When we tried a Flathead as a chisel it worked much better

   This was a great birthday gift for my 12-year-old! He loved hammering to break them open, he loved how beautiful they are when they're opened, he loved learning about how they form. I also love how it came with safety goggles, as they were absolutely needed. We had two in our kit that were solid all the way through, but all the rest had hollow places and are stunningly beautiful, and it's nice that there is an enclosed magnifying glass and enclosed stands for displaying. This was well worth the money.

   I Absolutely love this....amazing gift gift if you plan to do that or a wonderful treat yourself! Hands on is always fun and for visual learners like myself the best kind of brain food we can get. It comes with a booklet that gives you all sorts of cool information and facts to learn about before or after you smash into your rocks. I love how there's a wide variety I'm Different geodes and sizes. The price cannot be beat for what you're getting. The best part about this product is your learning while having a good time and at the end of the process you have some lovely geodes to display they also have a story to tell because you open them yourself. My only advice to anyone is to carefully open your geodes do not just smash into them! Take the time to slowly crack them open and get two halves. One more awesome thing I love about this is that comes with safety goggles and a magnifying glass so that you can check out all the amazing details of the geodes before you crack and after you open them. Stunning and beautiful one of the best purchases I've ever made!

   I like that this offers 10 different Geodes. We gave our granddaughter who just turned 9 last weekend this box today as it was the only gift that didn't arrive on time from me being tardy on my decision making. Today she opened the box after her soccer game once we got home and she was so excited that it included goggles, magnifying glass, booklet, geodes along with a couple of other items. She cracked the largest one first before we were leaving. It took several whacks to get it to break open with a large hammer. Our son in law had put the geode into a sock first so the pieces wouldn't fly everywhere in the garage once broken. Great gift and a happy granddaughter. The color inside was the purest of whites with so much shine it was blinding in the sun light. I highly recommend National Geographic's products. I've purchased three other kits for National Geographic for xmas and one other birthday. We can't see what unfolds with those kits in the near future.

   The set I ordered came with 10 geodes and I gotta say it was well worth it! First of all, it was SUPER fun to just crack these open. Second, I actually squealed with excitement when I got to see what goodies were inside! And after I was done I sat with my daughter and we both were so giddy with joy.
   
   I'll be purchasing another kit pretty soon and we can't wait to see what's inside

   Huff and puff with all your might' and you can't (easily) crack a geode. Therefore, the shiny, sparkling pigs hiding inside are quite safe from view.
   After two broken ceramic floor tiles, a cracked table leg, and all desire to get a peek inside, a couple of hammer wacks produced smithereens; messy, crumbles of smithereens with only a hint of reddish sparkles.
   This big, bad wolf has yet huff and puff on the other 5 brick houses. Age appropriate? Yes, I'm 71. Giftable? D'Ya know someone who thinks he's hot-stuff? It'll shatter him (too)!
   From me, anyway, the little pigs, thus far, are safe!
