I'm not very flexible yet so I've found it helps a lot if I loop a towel or some kind of fabric around the handle part as an extension. It lets me sit up straighter and be more comfortable so I can just sit and stretch for a longer period of time. I'll just stretch while I relax watching TV and focus on pulling a little harder during commercials.
