I am able to consider some luxury options now but, I wanted to start out slow to learn how to write/fill/care for a fountain pen and not spend a luxury price just to find out I couldn't or wouldn't enjoy the experience.    This is a beautiful, smooth writing pen. It is only available with a medium nib, but it uses #6 sized nips and the nib is easy to replace if you want a different line width. I was amazed that it started writing immediately after I filled it. No startup problems. Goulet Pens sells a very nice nib online and has video instructions on how to replace the nibs.
