I have used this fire starter about two dozen times on a Weber Kettle or Smokey Mountain with both briquets and lump charcoal. It is fast. One to two minutes of heated air gets the coals going followed by another two minutes of air without the heater on gets a grill full of red coals. Starting lump charcoal may require breaking up a few large lumps or just selecting a few smaller lumps to "kindle" the start up. After that, switch to air only and you have a hot fire. The cord is about 7 feet long which works for me. Seems pretty durable. Well worth the money.
