It is elastic, slips right on... however, I would probably not recommend it for a real pet... too flimsy and heavy. If you have a large wrist, you might even be able to wear it as a bracelet. The pearls are lavender in color and have little rhinestone bars in two places. I never hesitate to update my review should new info seem useful. It arrive quickly (I have prime) and in great condition along with other items I had ordered.
