I understand stylists/hairdressers need to make money, to trim an inch or two of hair a month is not what most people can afford. So I started trimming my own coat at home using the pruning shears I bought to trim my dog's "wrinkled paws" and ears between brushings.

   The set also includes a smaller straight edge clip for cutting bangs. It's also worth noting that both clips have a level of rotation for true angle cropping. That works especially well when using small curls for the angled side bangs. My only complaint with the large curved clip is that it's hard to get hold of because my hair is thicker than average. But it's still a really great buy. Pays for itself after one use and I've been using it every 6 weeks since I got it, so I've saved a lot of money as it averages

   I like to use professional stylist hair scissors (buy a good set of scissors for a haircut at your local CVS or find a suitable pair here. However, there's no need to spend a lot. money for scissors. Just to make sure it's branded, I use scissors to cut my hair above the clip vertically, at an angle. That results in more professional looking textured layers. , remove the clip and shake it loose or comb it back for a truly professional layered cut with a stylish U-shape in the back.

   Once you have it where you want it vertically, bubble up in the middle of the level, stand up or crouch, whatever is more comfortable for you. At this point, it doesn't matter if you move the clip with your hair still in it. Just cut the hair above the clip. You can use an electric hair trimmer or scissors to cut your hair horizontally with the clip, resulting in thicker and easier cuts.

   If you slide it more towards the front of your face, towards your forehead, you will leave your hair longer in the back. Sliding it over the top of your head at the crown will give you a shorter cut in the back. While you are sliding, it is imperative to watch the level. Make sure the bubble is in the middle when you stop sliding or you'll leave your hair shorter on one side.

   Then you clamp it as close to the roots as possible, checking to make sure the bubble is in the center for an even cut, and slide down to stop at the length you want. You can then cut straight horizontally or vertically for a "textured" look. Then it recommends cleaning with a toothbrush and shampoo after use and letting it dry. My hair doesn't have any product in it because I just got out of the shower, so I run the faucet through my hair to get some of the hair that got stuck when I cut it and let it air dry.

This must be a new addition as I have seen other reviewers unhappy that it has no instructions and you have to go to YouTube to find out how to use it. If you try to get it flat while it's in your hair when the air bubble comes out on the far side, you'll be sitting there waiting for it to dissolve for a long time. Other than that, I can't really find anything to complain about about this.
