I did not even reach out to the company and they sent a free pen along with the one I bought. Very satisfied. A little mad about the timing but it was worth it.    I bought this for my two boys-7 & 9-totally beginners-to play with as a screen free and creative activity. They loved it! Anything I can find that makes them excited to be creative and off a screen delights me. My one regret was no buying the refills because they have used all of the included materials.    I wish there was more practice material while I learn the buttons because I accidentally wasted a lot because I misunderstood the instructions but all in all it seems okay for beginners. While the pen sits it leaks a tiny string of material also I was kind of hoping this pen would allow me to smooth out the plastic some but it projects pretty far from the top when going faster but the slow setting makes it smell like it's burning and the result is still lumpy and difficult to control, again though I'm hoping this gets easier with practice hence the desire for some more pla to practice with.

She figured out how to operate it all on her own after reading the manual and being shown how to plug it in and let it heat up (which takes about 20 minutes). This would be a great gift for older kids (because it does have a heating feature similar to a hot glue gun) up to adults/seniors. We love watching her create all sorts of things!
